Hey everyone, my name is Ellie Graham and I’m from Knoxville, Tennessee. I’m fifteen and a sophomore in high school. I joined the Stories Untold team because I want to pursue writing in the future and I’m very passionate about speaking up about current issues. Writing has always been a way for me to freely express myself and my opinions without fear of judgement. Growing up, I would read articles in the newspaper and try to replicate them from my own topics that I researched. As I’ve grown older, I’ve become involved in debate clubs and debate camps where I have learned to voice my opinion even more, in so many different fields and among different kinds of people. This has helped me become even more of an open minded writer which I think fuels my passion for journalism. My biggest supporters of my writing and my biggest inspirations are the friends that I’ve met in my youth group. With their help and support, I was funded to go to my first debate camp, and also go on countless trips to experience diverse regions of the US and learn about the injustices citizens face there. Without their constant push for me to expand my comfort zone, I truly do not think I would be the writer I am today. One fun fact about me is that I have been an artist ever since I was little. My grandmother was an art teacher so she always helped me, and this gave me another creative outlet to express myself. In the future, I want to help as many people as I can and also meet as many people as I can. Ultimately, if I can touch other people’s lives through kindness and empathy I will be happy with my life! “Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope.”- Maya Angelou. Thank you so much for the opportunity to be a part of this team!
